There are anniversaries — and then there are moments that remind you just how faithful God really is.
Sunday, May 31, 2025, was one of those moments. Victory Baptist Church, Ayigya gathered together with friends, dignitaries, and decades worth of answered prayers to mark its 40th Anniversary and it was a celebration that went far beyond the walls of any auditorium.
A Day That Brought Ayigya Together
The occasion drew people from every walk of life. Reverend ministers from across the Ghana Baptist Convention were present. Traditional leaders took their seats. Government officials, community members, and longtime church families filled the space all united by a shared recognition of what this church has meant to Ayigya and beyond.
Among the most distinguished guests was His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, who traveled to Ayigya to personally honour the church that had impacted his life during his school days in the Ashanti Region. His presence spoke volumes.
“This church has not only been a place of worship but a pillar of hope and transformation for generations,” the Ga Mantse told the gathering. He went on to express deep gratitude to the leadership of Victory Baptist Church — and in particular to Rev. Dr. Charles Owusu Ampofo — for the commitment to service, community development, and spiritual guidance that has defined this ministry across four decades.
Three Milestone Achievements in One Day
The 40th Anniversary was not simply a service of thanksgiving it was a declaration of what God can do through a people who remain faithful. Three significant milestones were marked on the day:
The church’s newly completed ultramodern auditorium was formally dedicated — a space that will serve the growing congregation for generations to come.
The Victory Baptist School Complex was officially commissioned cementing the church’s long-standing investment in education as a tool for transformation.
And ground was broken for a modern administration block signalling that the work of Victory Baptist Church is far from finished.
A Word From the Senior Pastor
Rev. Dr. Charles Owusu Ampofo, the Senior Pastor and President of the Ministers Conference of the Ghana Baptist Convention, spoke with characteristic humility about all that God had done.
“This historic event would not have been possible without your love, prayers, and unwavering support,” he told the congregation. “We are grateful to God for how far He has brought us.”
What the Community Said
The queen mother of Ayigya, Oheneyere Nana Akosua Serwaa Oheneafrewo, offered words that perhaps best captured the church’s broader legacy. She commended Victory Baptist Church for constructing a classroom block, providing a borehole for the community, caring for the elderly, and maintaining peaceful relations with all people in Ayigya including their Muslim neighbours.
“Victory Baptist Church has lived peacefully with Muslims at Ayigya, constructed a bore-hole and a classroom block, and above all, cares for the aged. This indeed calls for commendation,” she said.
Forty Years. One Purpose.
From its humble beginnings to this milestone moment, Victory Baptist Church, Ayigya has remained anchored to the same mission: drawing people closer to God and discipling them for His Kingdom. Forty years on, that mission has not changed — and if the events of May 31 are any indication, neither has the faithfulness of the God who set it in motion.
